Hey Everyone,

Heading to CR in Nov. starting in San Jose and eventually making my way up to Tamarindo. Not really into gulch activities, but wouldn't mind working my somewhat limited Spanish on some nice senoritas. Btw.. I am african american and have heard some negative stories on here, but also know that it's not a big deal for many down there. Hell, they may think I'm Usher

Any suggestions on bars, clubs, parks etc... to hit up.

area near the u of cr has alot of 'regular' nite clubs, and alot of english speakers, but i know i'd have a hard time getting lucky there even with pretty good spanish. you don't have to p4p in the gulch to enjoy it, you'll have a good time regardless, you will meet alot of good people, work your spanish with the girls, try it. try ticoparty.com for good listings of non gulch tico bars/clubs.

I agree with what DGD says. The Key Largo has live Latin music 7 nights a week and the Chicas there are for rent, sure, but just love to dance regardless. The Chicas in the HDR/KL roam back and forth. Your being Black is no hindrance in the Gulch and probably not one in the UCR/San Pedro area either. San Pedro has a lot of college age girls. That is a good spot if you have enough game to talk to the younger women. I find it not as hard as the guys on here would say. That is a good spot to hit in the afternoon for a couple beers and people watching.

Escazu has a group of bars that are in a strip right as soon as you get off the pista. They are pretty chill. There is a place called Fandango's if you like to dance. There are several clubs in the area as well you could go to.

Hell I'll tell you what.....If you need some help, PM me and I will try my best to give you some good suggestions. There are just so many places I can name it would be lost in a post.

Thanks everyone for the places to check out. Heading down there in early November for the first time, and I know it will be alot of fun. Heard so much about the place, and need to check it out for myself. Tell me, is it true that costa rican women are the hottest in the world???

In Tamarindo there is all the action one person could need especially if you surf or want to learn. What alot of people don't know is there is a pretty good P4P scene going on especially during the high season. It is really under the radar and you have to make the rounds to the clubs at night and get to know some of the people around the nightlife scene. A good place to start is a kind of sports bar place I forget the name of it but it is right off the main drag and it has a long bar going north to south with tvs and some couchs behind it. Just go there and hang around a little and if you don't look like a total dork you will probably get approached. Also I am not going to go into detail of how why where how much ect ect that someone is sure to bring up because they have been to Tamarindo a thousand times and lived in CR since biblical times and have never encountered any action there. Needless to say it sounds like you are young and would probably have a good time out on the coast. It seems the season starts out there around Nov when everybody starts trickling in from around the world. I would skip SJ and head out to the coast and if it doesn't work out for you SJ will always be there. 8)

Tell me, is it true that costa rican women are the hottest in the world???

I don't know about Ticas being the hottest but CR seems to attract the hottest from upper South America and the Caribbean--a chance to ply their trade legally would be the biggest attractant. But a warning: there will be a storm of protest from SouthEast Asia and Philippines fans, and those of Eastern Europe. The story here is, the hottest Ticas are to be found in San Isidro del General but all civilians--no reported P4P.
Full disclosure: I much prefer the Ticas and Nicas, with the occasional Dominicana, to the Colombianas found in CR--there are exceptions of course. This has been discussed here many times--try a search if interested--or just do field work.
