You can certainly rent a car or scooter but the problem is finding some place to park it. There is very little parking because the city obviously wants you to be forced to pay their high cab prices. When I did see parking it was usually outrageously expensive. Given how people drove while I was there I would be afraid to drive in Cancun more so than MTY or the border towns...I don't know what would happen if you wrecked a rental car in Cancun...I suspect you'd leave without a cent in your pocket or a beating or in jail or some combination of all three as the car rental places I saw were all run by shady looking guys. I didn't look a the airport so there may have been like an Avis or Hertz but I wouldn't reccomend renting anything from the guys on the street.

O.k. I'll try to answer some of your questions. First, taking the bus to Plaza 21 is out of the question. Plaza 21 is a 30-45 minute cab ride from the hotel amd is on a highway. Taking in Cancun can be done but I wouldn't reccomend it unless you want to spend a ton of time waiting for buses. I waited for a bus for 30 minutes and when I got there it stopped and said the bus was full and another would be by within the hour.

For anyone short on money I would reccomend staying away from Plaza 21 altogether. To have a decent time there you are going to spend between $500-1000 or more. You can simply go to PP and drop $200-300 for a girl and not have to take a long cab ride nor be hasseled by all the people money grubbing in the Plaza.

I went during a slow time so there were not a ton of tourists there to hook up with. I talked to this one girl and might have been able to close the deal if I wanted to spend the night kissing her ass and buying her drinks but since this wasn't certain and I wanted to check out Plaza 21 I went for the sure thing. I'm reasonably goodlooking and have normal girlfriends in the state plus I'm 30 and usually get told I look 25-27...So YEMV depending on your age, looks, and the amount of time you want to invest. I will tell you that during March and the first two weeks of April the Average age of women is going to be in the early 20's with most being between 18-24 and there are going to be 3-4 times as many guys that same age with the same intent as yours. Plus there is a lot of grouping during theis time as many of these people come down together. I would say that your chances of hooking up during this time are very slim if you are in your late 20's or older. Not many 20 something go on spring break to hook up with a much older guy even one who is reasonabley good looking and has money to spend.

There is a whole group of bars and clubs right near Carlos & Charlies in the hotel zone which will all probably be packed during this time...But I would wager that there is little chance to pull an attractive female away from her group and fight of the competition unless you are under 25,very good looking, and have great game.

Outside of the March-April time period there is less competition from younger guys but both the quality and quantity of women goes down as it is mostly people vacationing with their families and such.

I didn't get the impression that there was anytype of real mongering scene on Isla Mujeres it was mostly beaches and toursits bars. I did see some more local bars in the interior of the island where there might be girls who you could take out for the right price in other parts of mexico but I don't know if that was the case there since I was there during the afternoon.

I would say this: I wouldn't monger in Cancun unless I have a lot of money to blow. If you don't want to spend money and are cool not getting laid then try to hit the tourist bars. If you want to get laid and want to save "a little" money hit PP.

From my experience as a tourist, going to Playa del Carmen with my family... as a Mexican that Iam, Cancun and the Mexican Riviera are incredibly expensive.
(Although I love'd it and Iam going again next summer)
Right now all that area is geared for European and SA tourists... which by the way, have no qualms in dropping money all around.
(I have said this many times, at other forums and other Threads, that American mongers and tourists have up to recent years stopped being the sole "owners" of Mexican Zonas and resorts... now there are more options for the beach resorts, like Argentinians that visit Cancun, Rivera Maya in Summer, when it's Winter time for them).

Taxi fares are high. Flag goes for 50 pesos, that's true, but for example, taxi fare from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen goes for 800 pesos.

By all means, get the bus to the hotel district.

Another thing Rocketmann, the further South you go into the Mayan Riviera, the more expensive it gets... though there are cheaper options indeed, but if you are mongering, best option is Cancun.
Isla Mujeres and Cozumel have not been quite explored or it is so expensive again as Cancun that mongers opt just not to post anything.

That's about all I can say for the moment...

Roguetrader- your reply so far is very useful as I near my trip. I am not bank of america, but not poor either and I am going on my own dime. Since I have only booked airfare to CUN to attend a wedding there, I have not booked a hotel -- but was planning on all inclusive. I have a couple questions:

1. Did you try the bus to hotels? I hear it is a lot cheaper.
2. Did you think bus would be cheaper AND safe to take to see the ho's?
3. Did you stay at all inclusive resort? Looks like its about $100 more a night -- but I will drink that in 2 hours LOL
4. Did you get the sense that a decent looking guys could just scam so tourists? Where is the best place to go other than that Charlies?
5. What did the guide want for $ I wonder if it would have saved some hassle and coin?
6. Was renting a car an option or you think outlying areas are too curupt to drive in as a american?
7. What other resort areas would you have changed to with better mongering ie: Isla Mujers - is it cheaper for the chicks? More GFE experience? What about further down the coast like towards Tulam?
8. Is plaza 21 in CUN central city?

I figured I would go with no credit cards, keep a stash of cash hidden and just play the old "I only have enough to get home" bit if someone starts hassling me. I appreciate the review. Ever go to Europe? LOVE Eastern Europe. Cute girls, no hassle and no pressure... just fun!

So I went to Cancun a few weeks ago and spent 4 days.

So I have to say that both Carlos and Beavis are both right in different ways. First of all, Cancun ain't Mexico...It may be in Mexican territory but any place that has more Ruth Chris Steakhouse's over a ten mile stretch than Oxxo Stations isn't Mexico to me. Now I've been to nice parts of MTY but even there you could alwyas find an Oxxo easily.

From the time I got off the plane every waiter, taxi driver, & guy on the street was handing out pamphlets to Pleasure Principal. The cabs seat covers are even ads for PP.

Cabs were a HUGE rip off it was a $50 cab ride from the airport to my first hotel which was like maybe 5 miles away. Up and down the hotel zone I got charged $10 for even driving a mile or two and unlike in the border towns you can't find guys that are willing to negotiate (A guy told me they were all in a union).

Food and drinks are equally expensive and you don't have many low cost options like street vendors...So if you want to eat cheap you may have to hit a KFC or Burger King.

I declined to hit Pleasure Principal because when I read reviews from 4-5 years ago the names of the girls were the same as the ones in the flyer. The girls in the flyer looked super hot but I figured since most said they were 18-21 that they were probably at least in the 24-28 range. I also wanted to check out Plaza 21 first to see if there were an bargain basement girls there.

The cab ride to Plaza 21 from the hotel zone was like $30 (which I heard was a bargain). The place isn't like a BT but more like a strip mall with several different strip clubs. I think the names of the ones on the front side of the building are called Blackjack, Millinium, and Katunga. These clubs may all be owned by the same person and all charge cover from $10-25. When I was there all the girls at these place were average at best. I went to Blackjack first not by choice but because I was told you had to go there and pay to get "Admission" to the Plaza....That was a lie but the one thing about Plaza 21 is that the most honest people are actually the whores and everyone wants money.

Not only do they want money they are not afraid to be agressive about it and when you tell them "no" they will throw a tantrum like a three year old. Not only that sometimes when you tip them they try to tell you the tip is insuffiecient. For example, when I left Black Jack a guy offered to be my guide...I told him no. He said I needed a guide because I would get lost (The place is tiny compared to NLBT or RYN BT so I think i can handle it). I again told him no and then decided I was going to go into this big club on the right side of the complex. As I'm about to go in the guy who has followed me all of 40 yards ask "Tip for me?" So I say no you didn't do any thing. He then demands "Tip for me." I say no again. This goes on for a while and then since I grew tired of it I gave him a handful of Mexican change. The he had the audacity to tell me "No, the tip should be 5 USD. I just turned and walked away brickly and into Dassan witht the guy yelling for me to stop the whole time. I also had arguments about tips with two other people that night including a guy who wanted $10 for cleaning the room after I had fucked and my mesero (who was the worst mesero ever and wanted like a $10 tip on a $20 tab and actually ran out in front of my cab to stop it when I left to ask & then demand $10. He got into a shoving match with me and my cab driver and walked back into Dassan with a pretty good beating from my cab driver).

Dassan actually made everthing worth it though. I have to say I've never seen more hot girls in one place in my life. They had to have 100 girls working and none of them were over 24. The club was arabic theme and they offered lap dances, massages, and fucking. The beers and water were over priced as were the women at $250 a pop including room...But honestly if you want to fuck a super hot girl the $250 is worth it. I was on the phone with jj while I was there and was literally trying to find a girl there I wouldn't fuck. The girls are from all over. I fucked one from MTY but the other one was from Chile. I've been to Danash in its hayday, Lipsticks in RYN, and Prestige in MTY and I would rank Dassan ahead of them all because not only is there sueforum.xxx quality but there is also a ton of quantity.

I tired to go to Blackjack and Millinium. When I first got to Blackjack I tried to sit in the place smoke a couple cigarettes and drink a beer but the people wouldn't leave me alone. The place was half full but I guess being the American they smelled money so they trotted every whore in the place up to me within 5 minutes of sitting down trying to sell me lap dances at $25 a pop...Also, none of the whore were particulalry great looking. I later tried Millinium and although the cover was cheaper the girls were nothing to write home about.

I never really felt unsafe in Plaza 21 as some have suggested...It is certainly more safe than any BT I've been to. Even during my altercation with the mesero i never really felt in danger.

Bottom line for me would be I would never go to Cancun on my own dime again except maybe to go back to Isla de Mujeres which had very nice beaches and was more like real Mexico. If you go on your own dime by the time you have paid for cabs, hotel, plane, tips, drinks, and girls you are probably averaging around $400-500 a fuck if you fuck 3-4 girls. The girls are hot but there are cheaper alternatives for pretty hot girls.

Now if you are going on someone elses money to get there and stay there then you are out much less money and it might be worth venturing out to Dassan even if just to see.
