I think all depends on many things :

What is your budget for an hotel : 700 or 3000 bath/day ?
How many beers you drink/day?
Do you want to make some day trips?
Do you want a BG in your bed every night? Keep her with you all your stay, so pay for food, drinks, trips, gifts ?
Do you need to rent a car, motorbike or to use thk-tuk a lot?

In LOS, you can spend a lot of money in bars, girls, trips... but you can also have a great trip for cheap IMHO

I would say, for example, if you are rather quiet :

Hotel : 1200 bath
Food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) : 500 bath
tuk tuk or motorbike if you like to move a little bit : 200 - 500 bath
Bars (if you drink 10 beers, pay for lady drinks and BF) : 1500 - 2000 bath
Beach (chair and water) : 100 - 200 bath
Day trips (an estimation if you do it 1 or 2/week) : 400 bath
"pocket money" for shopping, etc... : 500 bath
BG : 1000 bath

So, around 6000 bath/day

This is a question that often comes up on many thai forums.

Some will say they can get away with a budget of 3,500 baht per day.
However this kind of budget means being careful with everything you do, not drinking too much, only taking ladies from beer bars and freelancers for 1000 l/t and not having any s/t fun in the day.No soapies, Eating cheaply etc..
And you have to consider if the hotel is on this budget?

Most guys in los spend 5000 - 7000 baht per day on average, this will give you a budget that affords a very nice time in los, you will however spend less on some days than others, if you blow 10,000 - 1 day , the next day you might only spend 5,000. So it can even itself out.

As you are only there for 9 days, I wouldn't think this kind of budget should be a problem for you, long term stayers need to be a little bit more thrifty.

I would say the comfort zone is about 5000baht a day, hotel excluded.
Found that from previous tours that I've been on that on average, hotel and serious shopping is excluded of course

I come away for a month with a bag that i can take on the plane as hand luggage !

If I need things, I just buy them out there.

The ONLY important things in my bag are - tickets, passport and ATM card

If me, I go to Thailand with almost no clothes at all and buy everything I need here (cheap). Also remember to give the clothes to laundry before you go back home, it is nice to be back home with clean and ironed clothes and the laundry also make them very compact. So easy to pack down in your luggage.

Regarding budget, it all depends what you like to do. I.e. golf, diving, daytrips, tours, drinking, girls. So I guess it can vary a lot depending on who you ask. You may also adopt your budget to what you can afford.

People who stay short time may spend more than people who stay here for a longer time.

I know people who stay here long time, they rent room or apartment instead of staying at a hotel, allow themself a girl just 2-3 times a week and so on to make the money last longer.

I have also met other long termers who barely have any money at all, they ask for free drinks and so on and in my opinion they should be home instead of being beggars here. They often buy cheap spirits or beer from small minimarts and sit outside at concrete tables in the daytime.

I just returned from 3.5 weeks over there and just added up my bills, the total for me, excluding flights was approx $4000 US, i have no idea on the breakdown of that as i was normally drunk twice a day, i would say that a large chunk of that went into the pockets of a few BGs, but mostly on alcohol, i did have to buy some clothes as i could never be bothered going to the laundry and found it easier to get new ones.
I started a thread the same as this when i decided to go out there, but then once i got there the budget went out the window and i just had to visit the ATM whenever my wallet was empty.

Problem I find is finding clothes etc big enough for me.. I actually mail order a lot of T shirts as 'Asian XXL' is about a US L.. For example shoes (cheap flip flops and sandals in Lotus) top out at size 9 !!!

You can get a room for 500 baht upwards per night
A little honda dream motorbike is 150 B a day
depending on what you eat, you can spend between 300-1000 B
keep 500 B for massage each day (if you want one)
keep 1000 B for a woman each day (if you want one, though you can get for cheaper if you take the leftovers at 2 O'Clock in the morning)
keep 2000 B for alcohol each day

so average I'd say is 5000 Baht per day.

some days you spend more, some you spend less.

save extra if you plan on going diving/speed boats etc.
save extra to buy gifts with

If you skip the shampoo, underwear, MP3, etc., and just count the basics food, tickets, hotel, drinks, entertainment, day tours and money spent on girls(you can count the K-Y and the condoms), what does it all add up to.
How many days were you there. Divide the former number by the latter? The result if your avg. cost per day for the trip. How much is that?

on average i go for 3-4 weeks and i normally pay about £500 for the flight, i like to take about £2000, i pay about 800-1000 baht on a hotel, i just eat when i feel hungry so i don't know how much on food, but its so cheap, most my money goes on beer short time and long time, i still do trips, activitys and shopping and at the end i always have some left over for tips and duty free and i never have to worry weather or not i will run out of cash so if you are like me then for 9 days take about £700-£800

I went there for three days/ two nights in january and it amounted to only 16000 baht.

Stayed at Yorkshire Inn (nice place) for 700 baht per night = 1400 baht

1st go go girl...bar fine 400 baht + 1500 baht ST = 1900 baht

2nd go go girl...bar fine 500 baht + 2000 baht ST (She was damn good :happyi: ) = 2500 baht.

Taxi fare: to and fro = 1100 baht

Massage only once = 500 baht (not soapie)

Shopping = 1000 baht

1 weird meal, weird creatures = 700 baht

I wasted a lot actually, since it was my first time. Tried out a lot of the tourist restaurants and stuff.

My suggestion, friend, if you are on limited funds like I am, is to only bring a limited amount of cash for each day. That's for basic necessities. The 'rest', well, that'll make you go overbudget anyway.

If you're lazy, just stay at Patong Beach. Love the place, man. It has everything you would ever need...and more.

SIgh, I wish I could stay for nine days. That 1600baht cleared my savings. I'm from a poor country. I make less than some of the go go girls. hahaha.
