Introducing a new kitten to three dogs? How? Also, name suggestion? Picture inside.?

We just got a kitten yesterday.

This would be her: Any name suggestions? we want a southern name. Like Dixie but not Dixie. Maybe Dixie, does she look like a Dixie? lol.

Anyway, I brought her home last night and the dogs weren't too interested except Bella. Bella kept wanting to sniff her and be all up in her face and the kitten would hiss.

The dogs are Spence- 8 lbs.
Bella- 4 lbs.
Lily-30 lbs.

I don't think any of them would hurt her, Spence and Lily have been around other cats, but Bella hasn't so I don't really know what to expect. I try to keep them away from each other and pet one dog at a time and the kitten at the same time. Then swap hands to kind of mesh their scents. I don't know if that works though.

How is the proper way to introduce them?

Name suggestions?

She looks like an Irene, Gladys, or Wanda.

The proper way to introduce them is to keep the cat in your lap and show them this is your new baby. Let them know this is your baby very often. Let them be part of taking care of the new baby, too. If they're rough with her let them know by chasing them away from her. They'll understand soon enough. Mine did.

when i spotted your question...i thought "trixie"...low and behold, you're thinking dixie! trixie is what i wanted to name my red haired mini dachshund. she ended up being named lucy...hence the red hair! your kitten looks so sweet! i would only believe you should introduce her with limited time increments. separation from the dog crew with eventual longer "meetings"...the dogs should, hopefully, adapt to her scent and presence. you may be able to gauge the right time to allow them to all, run freely. i'm not sure of animal behaviors but, having had pets...it seems the most logical/reasonable way. good luck to you and your pet crew!!

Dixie's adorable. Though I'd probably name her Smidgette because of the black smudge on her nose. :3

I've never actually had that problem; but what I'd do is:

Let the kitten and one dog in the same room with *you in the room with them*. Let them smell each other first, let them get settled, and if nothing happens (dog doesn't go for the kitten, kitten doesn't hiss at the dog), reward them. After a while (don't switch dogs immediately) get another dog, and take the kitten in the room, and repeat the process.

Wow, what a cutie pie!!!
A very long time ago I had a kitty that looked similar to her named Lacey. I always suggest to people to take all of your favourite name suggestions and place each one on a different piece of paper. Roll them up into balls and throw them on the floor in front of her. The one she chases and plays with the most is the one she picks out to be hers... I just always thought that was an original and fun way to do it.

As far as introducing her to your pups - even though they are small and one medium breeds, still use a lot of care. I would only do it under supervision for small periods of time.

Remember that your kitten is still getting used to you and her new environment all at the same time. Some kittens are very outgoing and have no problem adjusting. They take right to everything right away. But others are more timid and require a slower more gentler approach. If the latter of the two is what you have - be patient or she may become traumatized causing you to have a scared cat in the future that has other problems with things like socialization and litter box elimination.

The fact you are even asking leads me to believe you guys will be just fine. Take lots of pictures. Use common sense and NEVER hesitate to ask your vet for advice. Your vet & his staff are a wealth of information that people rarely take enough advantage of. A phone call to them is free and they are always there to help you.
