WARREN, Mich. (WWJ) – A 34-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly opening fire on a massage parlor in Warren on Monday.
Hesham Bapacker is accused of firing more than 40 shots into Greenday Massage around 2 a.m. on Feb. 28. He has been charged with two counts of discharging a firearm in or at a building, a 10-year felony and two counts of felony firearm, a two-year felony.
Officers were called to the business in a strip mall near 9 Mile Road and Ryan after a foreign speaking woman called and said someone was shooting into her building.
When officers showed up, they found numerous shell casings and bullet holes in and around the strip mall.
Officers then spotted a man, later identified as Bapacker, in the 9 Mile and Ryan Pharmacy. Police said Monday he had been living there with the owners permission.
Three female employees from the massage parlor were evacuated from the building during the investigation, officials said.
Officers quickly set up a perimeter and Bapacker surrendered without incident after a standoff that lasted about four hours.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Detectives got a search warrant and seized a 9mm handgun and more than 100 unfired rounds from the pharmacy.
In total, investigators found more than 40 spent 9mm shell casings and over 30 bullet strikes, officials said.
Bapacker was arraigned in front of Judge Chupa on Tuesday and bond was set at $1 million. A preliminary examination is scheduled for March 10.
Authorities have not given any word on a possible motive behind the shooting.
