In a nutshell: do you think acupuncture can cure my condition?
I had a herniated disk L4 L5 affecting the S1 nerve three and a half months ago. I am 4.5 weeks post op. I went to see surgeon privately and he fast tracked my through the NHS as I had a dropped foot and no reflex in foot and could hardly walk.
The op was instantly successful and to date ( fingers crossed) I have full feeling in my right leg.
I had little or no help post op except some copied Ienga yoga moves. I still have heard nothing. The surgeon said I could go back to work when I felt ok. The NHS web based advice says return to work in two to three weeks.I went back after three with a kneeling chair. I feel abandoned by the NHS.
Anyway all was fine until a week ago when I felt pain in my back just above the muscles -nerve pain. Codeine wont touch it. I went to see an acupuncturist (qualified ) on friday and she is seeing me again on monday. She relaxed my back prior to working on the pain.
I wonder how long it will take for pain to be numbed, will it work? I am in industrial amounts of pain. The GP has said my only hope for pain relief lies in acupuncture.
I would appreciate some help and advice.
