Some Pricing Adjustment is Underway

Noticed that some Kijiji massage ads are now running promotions at 65/hr. Shifting to a buyers market. No need to stuff the pockets of owners of these establishments who charge 80/hr just for the room (and some are just crappy places) and expect the masseuses to earn everything off their tips (the shady owners probably take a cut of that too). Customers need to get smarter...seek good value...town needs more independents...cut out the middlemen/leaches.

I am in Calgary now and I see there are more Massage Centres opened. Just roaming on Centre Street, then a few more on 16 Avenue I see lots more than last year. I see a lot of ads out there too. There are places that are legit with RMT, then there is the obvious rub & tug ones. Any places advertising $80 an hour in Calgary better update their pricing cause this is outdated in today's times. Driving along Centre Street from 64 Avenue NW towards downtown, I saw a few more pop up that features things we normally do not see.
"Walk Ins Welcome, Massage Special Price, Massages $49.99, Massages $60, Massages $65, Massages $70" advertised on the board outside. I saw these same places on Kijiji as well.
Definitely recession pricing is affecting some of these places. Some businesses recognize this and adjust accordingly which is good for us. Its up to the masseuse to compete for our hard earned $ with whomever is still left in the workforce with $ to be claimed. If she is smart, she will do what it takes to retain repeat business and make us happy. By making us happy, and the business increase, the happiness will trickle down to the establishment, her and the local economy.

I see More and More recession pricing massage parlors out there now $ 60.00 hr.
Kijiji has also more at $ 60.00

On 12th Avenue and 13th St SW, Kijiji ad has massage now for $50.00 for the hour and Centre Street and 10th St NW it is $55.00 for the hour. Student massage on Kijiji (NW Calgary) for 55/hr and 65/90m. Reality is sinking in. People were programmed into thinking 80/hr...for what???? Time to re-program. Even if you have insurance coverage, why not have more massages for the same spend instead of wasting it feeding some greedy spa owner?

Saw new ad on Kijiji today for 45/hr from a female massage student. Pricing adjustment in Calgary is speeding up. Another masseuse on 11th Ave SW around 6th Street who was charging 80/hr just 3 months ago, has lowered her price 3 times since. Today it is 50/hr. Deflation is taking hold across many sectors around the world. Don't think many people in the resources sectors will be earning bonuses or getting pay increases. Pay cuts are more likely. Entertainment and massages are not immune to these trends. Many will resist, but ultimately they will fold. Silly pricing be gone. People in the biz, don't hate me for saying this, just look around. Better to have a repeat customer coming back and make a bit less per session than lose them to a competitor for ever.

I personally know a massage therapist who works a MO Acupuncture
She said business is very slow . They charge $ 80.00 + GST per hr.
Do you think they will catch on
