TWIN FALLS — A woman who faced multiple felony counts of procurement of commercial sex activity at local massage parlors has entered into a plea deal in which prosecutors will recommend probation, provided she testifies truthfully against another prime suspect, records say.
Lang Wang signed the plea agreement on March 18, in which her seven felony counts will be reduced to a single misdemeanor charge of providing commercial sexual activity.
A six-month sentence would be suspended in lieu of probation.
Kahn
The sentence hinges on testimony about Salon Kahn’s role in the massage parlors and women said to be providing commercial sexual activity.
Testimony from Lang, according to the plea deal, will involve Khan’s actions in maintaining the Perfect and Dragon massage parlors on Addison Avenue, conversations she had with Kahn regarding their operation, alleged incidents in which Kahn on multiple occasions had found used condoms while cleaning the rooms and talked to Wang about suspicions sexual services were being provided, court records say.
An attorney didn't argue that commercial sex activity wasn't occurring in the massage parlors. But what role did his clients play?
In addition, Wang must provide truthful testimony on any role Kahn played in transporting women involved in commercial sex activity from the airport to the massage parlors.
“It is common for prosecutors to offer reduced sentences to those who testify against a person who has committed a greater crime, or who is the main culprit in a criminal enterprise,” Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs said in a written statement to the Times-News.
Wang’s sentencing hearing hasn’t been scheduled.
Khan remains in custody on a $300,000 bond, while Wang and two other women originally charged after the August crackdown on the massage parlors have had charges reduced, have posted bond and are out of custody.
Loebs said his office might refile charges District Judge William Hancock dismissed against some of the women due to insufficient evidence.
Kahn faces five felonies and an April 16 trial is scheduled.
Among those expected to testify during his trial includes a Twin Falls sheriff’s detective who has attended training on the operation of massage parlors that provide commercial sex activity, and methods of how such massage parlors obtain workers, including human trafficking, records say.
According to court documents, women recruited to work at massage parlors are sometimes subject to financial exploitation and physical threats against themselves and relatives.
