When you act irresponsibly, don't just think about the people susceptible to Covid who will suffer from your actions. Think also about the others who won't be affected by the virus but will suffer due to the shutdown's domino effect. Think about the businesseses and means of livelihood a lot of people will lose. Think about the increased drug abuse, domestic abuse, child abuse and mental health issues that will be brought about by another shutdown similar to the one in March. the whole point is seeing that things (these new cases) can quickly trend toward the direction of overwhelming the hospitals that's the whole point of recording the daily cases of infections. So they can see which direction we are trending and try to stop it from being a problem. As you said and the provinces medical officials said as well we are trending toward 1000 daily. If that happens you bet hospital will be swamped.

Hospital admissions appear to be rising from what I noticed. You know the simple answer to this is to just shut EVERYTHING accept the hospitals and emergency services for 2 weeks and this thing will go away or at the least, be insignificant. Instead our Gov does a half ass attempt that only makes it worse. Does anyone else think the Gov does not want this to go away?

Viruses do not simply go away because you lock everyone away. They may go dorment for a time, but as soon as you open up again, people will start to get sick again. The flu is a virus, it never goes away. Even a flu vaccine isn't perfect, it has a 50% effective rate and almost 0% for those over 70 years of age. So those waiting on a a vaccine for covid are going to be sorely disappointed if they think this is going to be the holy grail that saves them.

I don't mean to be pessimistic, I'm just being realistic. I haven't let this virus stop me from living my life. I have had to make some changes such as doing more solo events as opposed to group events. That doesn't really bother me, I do have a small social circle where we get together once a week and have been for most of the summer. No it is not above the limits the government laid out, and we do most of our gathering outside in the fresh air.

I never was one for large crowds anyway, give me a small group of close friends any day.

It's really the shutdown I fear, not so much the virus. We've come a long way since March in learning how to contain the virus and more importantly how to protect the vulnerable people. As someone in the 39 and below age range, it really doesn't phase me to know that most cases are coming from people in my group. Better us than our loved ones who are either really old, sickly or both. We were given guidelines on how to prevent the spread yet we continue to make poor decisions. As everyone has been saying, unless the hospitals start to get overwhelmed and people are dying left and right, a rollback to Stage 2 at worst is all we need.
