Maybe in a few years we don't have to worry about people using vehicles as weapons. We should all be pushing the government to make automatic braking systems standard on all vehicles, that will stop the vehicle from hitting objects or pedestrians when it senses a collision is about to occur, either accidentally, or purposely, through radar and small cameras. If the vehicle does actually hit something or someone, because of not being able to stop in time, because of high speed, then the vehicle should automatically be disabled, so it can't hit anything a second time. We all have to communicate with the politicians that this must be manditory soon in order to save lives.

Technology means nothing to stop a sick mind. It might help a bit to prevent some but hatred and jealousy is a disease and there is no cure for that and there is no way we can stop a sick person. He or she will always come up with something to harm others.

Some kids were born and raised differently. Never been loved nor cared for and never been taught Right from Wrong. Those kind of kids, when they grow up and whenever they face rejections, failures and loneliness, they need a place to vent their anger. If they cannot find where to vent their anger and when it reach to a point they cannot hold it inside any longer, they do those extreme things that happened on that Monday.
All we can do is to show love and kindness to each other. That's the only way we can really prevent from this kind of things happening again.

True, and well stated. Technology can't stop hatred. But this idea would make one less weapon available to the mentally ill. The Yonge St attack was not the first one. It has also happened recently in California, Spain, Paris, and London, England among other places. And it looks as though it may happen again unless something is done about it.
And of course, it would also reduce accidental collisions.
