Without buying into the OP's rhetoric, I count myself as one dismayed by the turn political sensibilities have taken in the West. I used to consider myself a centre-left type. Despite its flaws I think OHIP is basically a good idea. I think we should be responsible towards the environment (whatever that means, so hard to tell these days), and I think that as a wealthy country we should aim to create conditions that allow everyone to make a good life for themselves.
